    Thanks :)
Yes the exam was quite standardized. The only difference was instead of simulated patients they had real patients for physical examination part. and then for other stations they had a pic pasted on the tables with examiners. For some stations you just had to write the questions asked about the given case on a paper sheet given(aka static station)and for some stations you had to answer the questions asked by the examiner(aka interactive stations).
There were total 15 stations carrying 20 marks each. Time was 75 mins with 5 mins each station.
The distribution of stations were as follow
*Physical examination stations =3 stations interactive
*Medicine case given= 1 station( static)It was about sarcoidosis, X ray and erythema nodosum pic given along with history and 3 questions asked.
*Surgery case given = 1 static station. Was about mastectomy. Pic was given and relevant questions asked.
*Ophthalmology interactive station. A pic was given and related questions asked by the examiner.
*Surgical Instrument station. Interactive station. It was a pic of ETT and related questions asked by examiner.
*E.N.T interactive station. X ray pic was given of PNS and related questions asked.
*Gynecology Interactive station. It was about pre-conceptional diabetes counseling.
*Obstetrics static station. It was about twin pregnancy and related question.
*Pediatrics 2 stations, 1 static and 1 interactive.
*Behavior sciences (Psychiatry) Interactive station. About HIV counselling.
*X-ray static station. A pic was given along with questions. It was pleural effusion.
*and LAST but not least Dermatology station. Static station. It was about TEN and related questions asked.

dont be depressed man, you have unlimited chances to clear the pmdc exam and step 3 is not so hard. get attachment in a teaching hospital and get rotations of medicine, surgery, gyne, peds, ent and eye according to your need. It can be one month for major departments and 2 weeks for minor departments.
    Good luck

If you know how to carry yourself and the basic techniques for examination and avoid making blunders then its easy for you.
There was a station with a pic of ETT in the instrument part. Name, indications and complications were asked by the examiner. I've mentioned it above.
For Physical examination there were 3 stations. 1st was Vascular system examination(Pulse examination).I was asked to examine the pulses of a female patient lying on a bed. and then I gave reflections of my findings(I gave it as a normal patient) the examiner asked related questions about different types of pulses and in which condition they are palpable(e.g water hammer pulse etc)
2nd station was umbilical hernia examination and related questions asked. The examiner was very mean and grilling every student and his attitude was very rude.
3rd station was Chest examination (back of chest only) It was a left sided effusion patient. Then related questions were asked by examiner. She was very polite and nice as I aced that station and answered all the questions right.
I didn't use any specific books. I attended DIMS academy for Step 3 and made notes. It made a huge difference for me.(and I'am not a huge fan of academies) Other than that for viva part you have to prepare theory from books you used for step 2.
Thank you very much once again and Happy to Help others. If need any further info plz do ask.
    God Bless!
