Irish Medical Council to Australian Medical Council

Hello,
I would like to know:
1. Does Australian Medical Council acknowledge physicians registered with Irish Medical Council straight away?
2. What is the pathway for General practitioners in Ireland to get registered with Australian Medical Council? (for IMG's)

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Hi
You need to apply for AMC registration via competent authority pathway.

IMGs who have a primary qualification in medicine and surgery awarded by a training institution recognised by both the Australian Medical Council and the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and who have completed training or assessment with an approved competent authority may apply for provisional registration via the Competent Authority pathway.

The approved competent authorities are:

General Medical Council (United Kingdom - for the PLAB examination or for graduates of GMC-accredited medical courses in the United Kingdom)
Medical Council of Canada (LMCC)
Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates of the United States (USMLE)
Medical Council of New Zealand (NZREX)
Medical Council of Ireland (graduates of medical courses in Ireland accredited by the Medical Council of Ireland).

I got a bit confused since on the website of Australian Medical Council, it was mentioned "graduate of medical school in Ireland..." Does that mean that if someone is registered with Irish Medical Council, they would be eligible to apply under Competent Authority Pathway?

Thank you for the reply, much obliged!

It means those who graduated in Ireland, not the graduates from outside of Ireland.
PLAB gives you exemption from AMC part 1 as far as I know.
You welcome
