information required about notarization of documents

asalam u alaikum to all
i am about to graduate from my university in china.
i just want to get some information about the role of notary office.
mu questions are,
1- what is a notary office?
2- why we have to give our documents to them?
3- which are the documents we must give to the notary office?
4- is it possible to get our documents translated from anywhere else other than notary office and after translation submit the documents to the notary office? i mean will they accept that translation?
5- what is the university calender? i mean my university does not have any kind of such document which shows the allcation of hours for each semester, so what should i do?

i will be thankful for any kind of guidance. ......

and your Mark sheet will work if ur school doesnt have a schedule. ......

If u dnt hv uni calendar, u can ask them that u have such requirement,so make it for u.its gud if u take that.alternatively ur marksheets r ok. ......
