What i suggest for you is to Do preparation for PMDC and PLAB, preparation is not different for them. PLAB concentrates on clinical side whereas PMDC checks both basic and clinical knowledge. Attempt your PMDC and then PLAB also whenever its date is and be prepared mentally for both, believe me it wont be difficult if you leave your confusion aside.
Lets say if you clear your PMDC and PLAB both and complete your housejob in UK then PMDC will also accept that housejob and will give your permanent RMP. Thats what is called aik teer se do shikar. But if you skip PMDC and do PLAB and do your house job there, you will have to attempt PMDC and do house job after PMDC again, according to PMDC Rules. I hope you are clear about this now.
study hours less than 5500 Hours may be a problem according to the criteria written on GMC site but they also say that "Whether a qualification is acceptable will be decided at the point of dealing with an application for registration. " So you must apply for PLAB. I know few doctors who have passed PLAB exam and their study hours were less than 5500 Hours.
Either you want to take PLAB inside UK or outside UK the documents requirement is the same. Please refer to the link i given in above post.
Prepare for both PLAB and PMDC together and attempt both of them, you will get success in both InshaALLAH. PMDC exams dont take 1 and half year but about 4-5 months for all steps if you pass them in one go.

If you don't fail, the time is not wasted and it would take 4 to 5 months for all steps. But if pmdc conducts the exam late then it might be like 6 months.

It takes more than 6 months(more than a year to be exact) to prepare and pass NEB even if you pass all of them on first try.
@drwatson can you plz show us the math how one can do it in 4-6 months?

She asked about passing pmdc exam and I just told the time for taking exams, I didn't include time for preparation as that would be different with everyone.
Let's say you graduated in August and you take an exam in September - November, you will most likely finish your exams until next May. It roughly us 6 months.
If you need to prepare, then add the time you need for preparation. ......
