FMDC stopped from enrolling new students

The national watchdog for medical and dental education, PMDC, has stopped the federal capital’s only government medical and dental college, FMDC, from enrolling fresh MBBS students over infrastructure and faculty shortages.



The college, which opened early in 2012, hasn’t made fresh admissions to MBBS course for two years on the same grounds in line with the PMDC directions.



In 2003, the PMDC stopped the FMDC from making further intakes of medical students for the year over gross deficiencies in infrastructure and faculty as well as various complaints of gross deficiencies.



Currently, around 300 students are enrolled in the college’s MBBS course.



“The Federal Medical and Dental College has been stopped from admitting students for the MBBS 2014-15 session till further orders. No student or graduate of the college will be registered with the PMDC,” the PMDC registrar told ‘The News’ on Saturday.
