Difference between FCPS & MD Pak and MD/Ph.D from Abroad

Asalamaoalaikum..

Can someone clear that whats the difference between FCPS and MD from Pakistan? as in FCPS one must do residency in internal medicine for 2 years and then 3 years in specialty but in MD one must do 5 years training in one specialty , no residency in internal medicine is required...

so i wanted to know that

1. How would it impact future? as in countries like China,Russia MD/Ph.D degree is awarded.... so which degree is better FCPS or MD from Pak?

2. Which one is better between FCPS Pak and Ph.D from other countries? To do Ph.D from China one must have to get training for 7 years ,, 3 for MD plus 4 years for Ph.D......... So i wanted to know which one has better options OUTSIDE Pakistan , FCPS or Ph.D from China?

FCPS is a major diploma awarded by CPSP (College).
MD is a Degree awarded by the university.
Thats the difference regardless of training route or duration in specialty or sub specialty

1. If you wanna stay in Pakistan then FCPS would be better as the FCPS gets more importance than MD in Pakistan.
2. offcourse, PHD is better wherever you do but outside of Pakistan. You can complete your PHD in 5 years also if you can get admission in MD/MS/MPhil leading to PHD.

 

Yes dr.watson I had upload new thread about MS leading PHD 5 years program in China .i m doing MS in Gastroentrology & Hepatology and the university said you can extend 2 years more and can get PHD degree so it's MS leading PHD ... So is this is a clinical PHD because I m doing MS in internal medicine Gastroentrology and Hepatology so if this lead to PHD with 2 years extension ,will it be considered as a clinical degree ,bcz I m afraid if get PHD and PMDC can't recognize as a clinical degree then it will be a big problem for me ,, that time I will loose my MS which is clinical but I don't know in Pakistan PHD medical graduates careers?????

 

I have replied to your thread in detail. Yes it would be recognized by pmdc as PhD clinical, but the degree should state so.

 

is there any senior who did his Master of Medicine degree from china and got equivalence from PMDC? If there is someone...Please tell me what is the title of equivalence, PMDC gave it to u.....Diploma etc.....or anyone who knows some of his friend who got equivalence....because if there is no chance of getting any kind of equivalence...then its a waste of time...thanks

 

With less than 4 years pmdc would give equivalent to Mcps and 4 years or more will be equivalent to MD/MS in Pakistan.
PhD will be equivalent to PhD + fcps / MD

 

Dr Watson, Do you know anyone who got equivalence? and one more question brother....one we have to get our degrees attested from Saudi embassy....we need their stamps on our notaries or back side of degrees?

yes you have to get degrees or docs attested from Saudi and Pakistani embassy too, but on their BACK SIDE
