The Role
The Darling River Medical Centre (part of Ochre Health) iand the town of Bourke seeking an energetic doctor with obstetrics skills (Caesar capable) to join and possibly lead the team.
The successful applicant will provide General Practice, Hospital, Visiting Medical Officer and Aboriginal Health Service consultations in and around the town of Bourke, Western NSW and be on call regarding after-hours hospital work.GP/VMO.
The centre employs three full time doctors, and also provides services to the local Aboriginal Health Service. The centre includes regular visits from out of town specialists. The local Hospital has 20 acute beds offering both obstetric and anaesthetic service when available. There are also 12 long stay beds.
In the outback of NSW, the iconic Australian town of Bourke hosts the only Obstetric unit in 720,000 square kilometres; an area approximately 8 times the size of Tasmania. The town has a proud history of providing consistent and high quality health services for over 100 years

The Opportunity
The picturesque town of Bourke is the ideal backdrop to follow in the footsteps of its most pioneering son, Fred Hollows. With the full support of Ochre Health, you will be encouraged to use the placement to further your studies or career in research. The opportunity exists to undertake research studies in areas such as rural medicine or Indigenous Health while advancing your career with a fully registered and recognised training provider.
The successful applicant will receive a very generous remuneration package of $500K (including a 4 bedroom modern brick house with air conditioning, family sedan with fuel card, access to our Queensland Island Resort at Couran Cove on the Gold Coast, PLUS 6 weeks annual leave per year with Locum organised PLUS relocation assistance

You are invited to complete a comprehensive site visit of the medical centre, hospital and locality, which is conducted over two full days. This is an opportunity to also meet and greet the staff and community.
About You
This role is ideally suited to an energetic doctor interested in building and boosting his or her career.
Ideal applicants will hold
Medical degree and conditional registration with the Australian Medical Board. Successful completion of AMC part 1
At least two years of General Practice experience, and at least four years post-graduate medical experience.
Completion of an EMST course, or similar.
Background in public health projects.
Obstetric or anaesthetics procedural skills
